Terms of Service
Version 4 · last updated Oct 6, 2026.
1. Acceptance of these terms
FlyerDuty is a service of Helical, LLC ("FlyerDuty," "we," "us"). These Terms of Service govern your use of the FlyerDuty website, the mobile-friendly web app, and the printed materials distributed through it (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. What the Service does
FlyerDuty is a local marketplace. Clients post campaigns to get flyers, posters, or brand ads distributed. Runners hand them out or drop them off. Affiliates host printed placements at venues they manage. FlyerDuty provides the platform that matches them, records proof of the work, and moves payments between them. We don't print, carry, or place material ourselves, and we aren't a party to the work agreed between a client and a Runner or affiliate.
3. Accounts
You must be at least 18, which we check when you create an account; for Runners, we also check it against Stripe's own identity verification. Give accurate information, including a real email address, which you confirm with a code we send to it. Keep your sign-in details to yourself: you're responsible for activity on your account. You can turn on two-factor sign-in for extra protection. Runners and affiliates may have to complete identity or business verification before taking work. We may suspend or close accounts as described in section 13.
4. Runners and affiliates are independent contractors
Runners and affiliates are independent contractors, not employees or agents of FlyerDuty or of any client. You decide whether to take a gig, when and how to do the work within what the campaign asks for, and you supply your own transportation, phone, and (when you print yourself) printer and paper. You're responsible for your own taxes; our payment processor, Stripe, collects the taxpayer details it needs and issues tax forms such as the 1099 where the law requires them. Nothing in these Terms creates an employment, partnership, or joint-venture relationship.
5. Compliance with local laws is your responsibility
Rules about where and how printed material may be handed out, left at a door, or posted differ from place to place. Clients are responsible for making sure their material is lawful. Runners and affiliates are responsible for following local laws and property rules where they work, including no-soliciting signs, rules about mailboxes (in the United States, material may not be placed in a mailbox), and any permits a city or venue requires. Respect a resident's request not to receive material.
6. No liability for injury or loss
Distributing material means moving around in public, entering private property with permission, and dealing with members of the public. You do this at your own risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, FlyerDuty is not responsible for injury, illness, property damage, theft, or loss you suffer while performing or arranging a gig, including anything arising from a vehicle used for a gig, or a dispute with a resident, property owner, or venue.
7. Payments
- Clients pay through a payment method saved with our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. The price of a campaign plus a service fee is shown before you publish.
- Runner gigs: when a Runner claims a gig, we place an authorization hold on the client's card for the gig's pay plus the service fee. The card is charged when the client approves the submitted work, or automatically if the client doesn't respond within 48 hours of submission. If a hold expires before then, we may place a new one.
- Venue placements are charged when the placement goes up, or, for a flexible placement, as the days run.
- Disputes and refunds: a client can dispute submitted work before approving it, or report a problem within 7 days after; FlyerDuty reviews and decides the outcome, which may be a full payout, a partial payout, no payout, or a refund. Card chargebacks follow the card network's process.
- Runners and affiliates are paid through Stripe Connect to the bank account they set up with Stripe: automatically once work is approved, or when they request a withdrawal, depending on their account. Earnings may be reduced by an approved refund or a chargeback on the work. Clients may add a tip after approving a gig, and the Runner keeps all of it.
Fees, payout timing, and minimum amounts may change; the product shows the current ones before you commit to them.
8. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:
- post material that is illegal, fraudulent, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights;
- falsify a placement, a scan, a location, a photo or video, a work session, or any other record of work;
- harass, threaten, or mislead a resident, property owner, venue, or another user, including in messages sent through the Service;
- arrange to pay or be paid for FlyerDuty work outside the Service to avoid its fees or protections; or
- try to get around the Service's payment, matching, verification, or security systems.
9. Emails
We email you at your account address to run your account and your work on FlyerDuty: verification codes, password resets, security notices (such as two-factor sign-in being turned on or off), updates on your gigs, campaigns, payments, payouts, refunds, disputes, and chargebacks, decisions on an access request, and, for Runners, when a client offers you a job directly and when new gigs are posted near you. These emails are part of the Service and you can't unsubscribe from them while you have an account, except job-offer and new-gig emails, which you can turn off in your settings and which arrive only during the hours you choose. Occasionally we may email you about a new feature you can use with your account, such as text alerts; we don't send newsletters or third-party advertising.
10. Text messages (SMS)
Runners can choose to get text messages from FlyerDuty.
-
What you get: the alerts you turn on, each with the gig's title, who posted it, the pay, and a link to it:
- "New gigs near me," sent when a gig is posted within the alert radius you choose. When many gigs are posted at once, we bundle them into one text.
- "Jobs offered to me," sent when a client offers a job to you directly.
To add a number, we also text you a one-time verification code you asked for.
-
How you opt in: add your mobile number in your settings, confirm it with the code we text you, and turn on the alerts you want. We text you a confirmation when you do. Consent to receive texts isn't a condition of using FlyerDuty or of any purchase.
-
When: only during the hours you choose in your settings (8 AM to 9 PM your time until you choose). Message frequency varies with how many gigs are posted near you and offered to you.
-
Cost: Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier sets them.
-
Opting out: reply STOP to any message to stop all texts from FlyerDuty; we'll send one message confirming you've opted out. You can also turn alerts off or remove your number in your settings at any time. To get texts again after replying STOP, reply START and turn your alerts back on in your settings.
-
Help: reply HELP to any message, email [email protected], or call 470-486-5144.
-
Numbers: a mobile number from a cell phone carrier in a country where FlyerDuty operates. VoIP, internet calling, and landline numbers aren't supported.
Mobile carriers aren't liable for delayed or undelivered messages. How we handle your phone number is described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that a campaign will find a Runner or affiliate, that claimed work will be completed, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, FlyerDuty is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or revenue, arising from your use of the Service, even if told such damages were possible. Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us (as a client) or we paid you (as a Runner or affiliate) in the three months before the claim arose.
13. Indemnification and termination
You agree to indemnify and hold FlyerDuty harmless from any claim, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of a law or someone else's rights, including a local rule about distributing printed material.
We may suspend or close your account for conduct that breaks these Terms or our Code of Conduct, puts the Service or other people at risk, or that we otherwise find harmful. You can stop using the Service and ask us to close your account at any time.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. A material change is published as a new version that you'll be asked to accept (or decline) before continuing with an account that requires it. Using the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
